Companies That Provide Internet Fax Services

By Keith Harris

By employing the services of an internet fax service supplier a business owner can find themselves saving as much as 89 percent on what they would ordinarily spend by having a fax machine. This sort of facility makes it simpler to maintain confidentiality, and helps to simplify control and management of the papers you produce.

You will discover that there are now a myriad of companies who offer fax services. Which would you select from these options? Below, there are a few rules of thumb that can help with making the right choice of Internet fax service providers for your line of work.

The first thing you should be doing is determining that you are able to receive any faxes that are sent to you either by getting an email or by you being able to log into an account and then collecting them online. Regrettably there are some companies that will not allow you this facility and certainly if you are in all probability to be away from your place of business at any time not being able to achieve access to that all important fax sent by a client or provider could end up costing you business and money.

There are many companies that provide Internet fax services for a small fee and it is a very helpful facility for moms that work from home. For numerous companies, going over a particular limit on the amount of faxes sent or received means that you will be charged extra - even if they are offering you a free service. Most often, companies such as these cost more in the end than a business that offers you a set rate for the faxes sent and received. You may even find that you can be billed for those faxes that fail to be transmitted and you then need to pay up not only for the failure but also for them to re-send it for you.

One other thing that you should be looking at closely when looking at using any kind of internet fax service supplier is the format in which the papers will be sent to you. Usually most providers send your faxes as TIFF attachments even though numerous people do not have the capability to open such written documents on their local machines. It's important to find a company that can transmit faxes to you in various formats which work with the tools you already have on your machine.

If you keep the above guidelines in mind when searching for an internet fax service supplier you should be able to discover one who meets your special needs and needs perfectly.

Get Online: Data Storage Blues

By James Gilbert Pynn

Though the darlings at Lifehacker would have you believe online data storage is a new technology, they're wrong. Online data storage is not some novel idea. Nor was it an idea that only recently came upon the ultra-hip the market. Indeed, contrary to popular belief, it has been a staple of standard business practice since the 1980s. You remember the Eighties, don't you? The Flock of Seagulls hair? Miami Vice? Reaganomics?

The technology involved in online data storage was the result of Provo, Utah's very own: Novell Inc. That's right, hipster, in totally un-hip Utah (no offense Utah residents). Businesses in the Eighties needed their data stored in a centralized database that would not be jeopardized should the company's hardware be compromised. And so the filer server as we know it today was born.

The humble file server is well-suited for the modern workplace. They provide instantaneous collaboration, allowing employees to work on respective projects and have them reviewed and developed by other team members. This transcends the limitations of space (offices in various cities) and time (allowing employees to stay firmly planted in their seats). Since all he company's data is stored in one database, any employee with authorization is allowed to therefore access it and use it as they need.

You should never have to call into thee question the security of you online data. While companies do indeed have local servers and computers, all data should be backed up with remote servers. This is helpful in light of hardware failures or natural disasters. What could be a terrible occurrence could turn out to be a mere inconvenience. Having this kind of data insurance gives businesses an incredible sense of stability and security.

Of all the online data storage providers, only a handful have both the reputation and the reliability today's companies demand. They allow users to retrieve any and all necessary files at any time. This, therefore, increased productivity, allowing employees to get more done and more quickly. Companies can have their pick from the throng of online servers, especially with regards to storage solutions. A simple search engine query will pull up a number of results that can meet any company's needs.

Changing Formats In The Same Cell In Microsoft Excel

By Carol Alexander

When formatting text within an Excel worksheet, you have the choice of working at the cell level or at the text level. If you wish to work at the cell level you simply highlight one or more cells and choose your format settings. Any formatting that you choose will then apply to all text within the cell or cells.

For example, to change the font size of your data in Microsoft Excel, you can of course use the drop-down menu next to the font name and choose one of the preset sizes. Another way of changing the size is to use the Grow Fond and Shrink Font buttons located on the right of the font size. These two buttons simply take you up and down the same preset sizes available on the preset size drop-down. You can also use the cursor keys on your keyboard to move through different sizes. Yet another option is to enter a particular size then press the enter key. When doing so, you are permitted to enter decimals, such as 10.5.

In a similar way, when you wish to choose a font, you can highlight the current name and begin to type the name of font you have in mind, for example Times new Roman. Once you have typed enough of the name to avoid ambiguity, the font name will be displayed and you simply press the Enter key.

Colour can be similarly be applied in two ways in your worksheets either as a background to the cell or to the text inside the cell. Because background colour applies to the cell it cannot be applied at the text level. With the creation of Themes in Excel 2007, Microsoft have made it very easy to come up with colour combinations which look good together.

If you wish to work at the text level, you need to be in Edit mode. You can access Edit mode in two ways: the first is to double-click on any cell; the second is to click once on the cell and then click anywhere in the formula bar. You can know when you're in Edit mode by the presence of the Cancel and Enter buttons on the left of the formula bar.

When working in Edit mode, you are able to highlight individual characters and change their attributes. For example, if a cell were to contain the text "Google", you could highlight each letter individually and change it to the colour used in the Google logo.

The facility of having different formats within the same cell is very useful for headings. It is less useful for the rest of the data in your worksheets since it slows down data entry and makes editing difficult.

Getting to the Bottom of Things -- Catching a Cheating Spouse

By Fositi Dassill

Just because you have proof does not mean that you will confront them with what you have discovered. That decision is yours and yours only. It is a possibility that you will get lots of advice from your friends on what to do. Just remember to always consider the source when someone gives you information, this is very important. Everyone has a motive and the person that is giving you the information (whether it is good or bad) may just have an ulterior motive. Just keep in mind to always consider the source of the information you are getting. Just remember to get your facts straight when confronting your partner and keep it brief. Do not be accusatory or jump to conclusions. If the relationship is important to you and it is worth saving, think long and hard before you do anything rash. If you see something that looks suspicisous on your mates phone, see a strange name or number on his desk, check it out. There are many places on the internet you can do a people or reverse lookup search. Sure it will cost money, but how much is your sanity or relationship worth?

Be prepared for what you may find out, the truth is often not pretty. You need to prepare yourself for what life is going to be like after your relationship if you choose to leave or divorce. It would be very difficult to tell when an emotional or online affair ever spilled over into the physical world, or if it even ever would. You basically need to decide if you consider this an affair and something that you can overcome and need to act upon.

If and when you have proof that your partner is having an affair it is up to you to decide if you want to confront that person. When and if you do, do not become accusatory or throw accusations out, in other words do not be in an angry mode or hostile towards the person, it can only make things much worse for you in the end. It is much better to come from an open place and tell your partner you are suspecting these things and you want to know if they want to fix it or not. If you sense some distance, ask them what is gong on. It is your life with this partner that is at risk, ask questions but do not be hostile towards the other person, it makes matters much worse.

If you are not sure that your partner is involved in an online affair, this is another story. Many people get things in their head that are simply not true. If there is a sudden change in behavior, this can be indicative of something going on. If your partner is very secretive about his or her online activities, this can also be a red flag. Sometimes you need to follow your gut instinct then go from there, your feelings will tell you what to do.

It will always be true, the person you are blaming for cheating will try to turn the tables on you and blame you. Do not be disappointed if this happens, noone wants to get caught, including your cheating spouse. They need to own up to what they are doing and tell you about it. The best thing is for you to keep your cool.

If you are sick of the whole situation and want to find out what is going on, start doing some research on your partner's activities. If you see a phone number or an address laying around, even if it seems innocent, do a reverse people or reverse telephone number lookup. There are many places on the internet that provide this type of information for little cost. It would be worth the peace of mind you have to know. In the end, it is your life and if you need to know something for closure, then you should take the measures necessary to find out what is going on. Just remember to always keep your calm and never be hostile towards anyone.

How to Make an Informed Decision When Choosing Your VOIP Provider

By Frank Newman

If you are ready to go voip, there are five key steps for choosing the right provider and getting started. First things first-- Figure out which provider has the best service and rates for your company. How do you do this? It's easy. Estimate how many phones youll need and how much your employees will be talking on them. Some providers charge a flat fee for each seat no matter how many calls are placed or received. Other voip providers charge a lower flat fee for a certain number of minutes, then charge extra for every minute over the flat rate. This may work for firms with extremely low call volume, though generally we recommend the unlimited plans. After all, you have better things to do with your time than comb over every charge on your phone bill. Similarly, for a toll-free number, some providers charge a low monthly fee, then charge an additional per-minute rate for all calls. Other companies charge a flat fee for unlimited calls to the toll-free number. Bottom line: If you have more than 1,000 minutes of toll-free usage a month, or more than 30 minutes a day, an unlimited number is more economical. Also, as we said before, unlimited plans are just easier.

Now it is time to evaluate equipment. With voip, the primary piece of equipment is the actual phone. Figure out what kind of phone you want before choosing a provider. (Some providers require customers to use their phones, while some work with a wide variety of phones.) Here are important points to consider: How much do you use speaker phone? If you use it a lot, pay for a phone with high-quality speaker sound. Phones with a full duplex speaker have good quality. We like the Polycom phones. You probably want a secondary Ethernet port in your phones. Most offices have just one Internet connection per desk. If that is the case at your office, youll want phones with a dual Ethernet port, so that you can plug your phone into your computer. The cordless/wireless options. Cordless phones are available and often appeal to people who work from home. (Thats because people are used to talking on cordless around the house.) Cordless phones cost roughly $180 more than regular phones. There also are wireless (or wi-fi) phones available, but we dont recommend them, as they are not reliable enough for business use. You probably dont want power-over-Ethernet. These phones get their power from the Internet, so you dont have to plug a separate cord into an electrical outlet. This is meant to reduce clutter and to keep the phones going during a power outage. We dont think it is worth the additional cost.

Step Three: Investigate providers customer service capabilities. Some important questions to keep in mind are: Ask about average customer service hold times. (Shorter is better.) Ask whether customer service is in-house or outsourced to a third party in another country. You are better off with in-house customer service workers who understand the product and speak fluent English. Check out how much information is online. Ideally, you can easily access information, and solve your own problems, especially if hold times are long.

Step Four: Decide which features you want"and investigate which providers offer those features and at what price. While the list of possible features may be long and impressive, it is important to figure out what you will actually use. Below are some that we think are useful for most small businesses, as well as a few that are probably not worth the money. First, the features we like: Auto Attendant Extension-to-extension dialing. (You can forward a call to a colleague.) Voicemail to e-mail. (You can receive voicemails as email attachments.) Call forwarding. Simultaneous ring. (You can have your cell phone and desk phone ring at the same time, so you dont miss any calls.) Outlook integration (You can click on a person in your Outlook address book and your phone will dial that persons number.) Fax solution. (A feature that allows fax to e-mail and e-mail to fax, so that you dont have to keep a separate fax provider.)

A few features that are probably not worth paying for: Instant Messaging. Video Conferencing. You can get this through Skype for free. Unlimited calls to Europe or parts of Asia; not needed for the volume of global calls you will make.

Lastly, figure out how much bandwidth you need"and then test it. A good rule of thumb is that you need 100Kbps of bandwidth per user. This allows you to talk on the phone and be online at the same time. 1 Mbps equals 1,000 Kbps, which is suitable for 10 users. Although decreasing to 30Kbps per person might work, we dont recommend anything below that. Make sure you have a T1 line as a residential cable or DSL line is not high-powered enough for a business using voip. Also, we recommend testing the bandwidth, instead of relying on your ISPs word.

With Free TV on PC, Save Money that will Last You a Lifetime

By Ashley Patrick

The number of people realizing the likelihood of getting their own free TV on PC with just a small one-time fee is increasing on a continual basis. This implies that you do not need to pay monthly to the cable companies or the satellite TV providers. New technology brought us to this day when our computers can function as televisions as well. You will be amazed on how the software can be easily downloaded and installed from the internet. Also, there is no need to buy additional hardware devices.

It is a popular fact that there is a monthly fee if you are subscribing to cable or satellite TV. For the basic service, you can pay even more than $40. For the additional channels that you get from them, your bill can already up to even a $100. Dont you just find this outrageous? In the past years, without getting this service, you were bound to watch only the local channels broadcasted from, of course, local TV stations.

This fact has changed over the years as well. Modern technology is now allowing you to gain access to a wide variety of channels through the use of your home computer. The basic requirement is a computer with a connection to the internet. This means that you no longer need to write a check to the cable company because that is just a waste of money. Although some may have the luxury to burn money, most of us can not just do that.

Living life without the cable bill does not necessarily mean that you can not have channel options anymore. Actually, watching TV through your computer offers much more channels than with your cable TV provider. Whether it is a live boxing match in Mexico, or a love story filmed in France, you will get the chance of watching it through your computer.

Sports fanatics are delighted with free TV on PC. Is it a prestigious soccer game up north? Or is it a semi-final basketball game down south? Name it and the satellite TV on PC definitely has it. What adds to the good news is that there is no need to pay extra in order to watch these events unlike that of pay per view.

Those who love the big screen are also pleased with the TV on the computer. Your PC turns into a personal film theater. Numerous movies are viewed at any time of the day (or night). Foreign film lovers are also elated. All of a sudden, the only problem you have is the choice of what movie to watch.

Your computer can also be connected to a high-tech television. Its the same as your usual television experience. A crystal clear TV can also be used for this function. The difference is you dont have to pay any bills anymore. Your TV has suddenly become a window to the globe.

Hurry and take advantage of a free TV on PC now and you will know how it is to see the world.
